Have you ever felt like the moment you step out in faith, resistance hits you from every direction?

You’re not imagining it. There is a battle over your calling and a war over your divine assignment.

When God gives you an assignment—a vision, a business, a ministry, a dream—the enemy’s goal is to stop you before you gain momentum. He knows that if you fully step into what God has called you to do, lives will be changed, territories will be taken for the Kingdom, and you will become unstoppable in God’s power. It’s his cue to go on the attack and he does everything he can to keep you stuck, isolated, and doubting yourself.

Right at the outset let me remind you…YOU are anointed for this. The calling on your life is not random. The resistance you feel is not a sign to stop—it’s proof that what you’re stepping into matters!

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re facing constant obstacles, pay attention—because these are five common ways the enemy attacks your calling and how to fight back.

1. You Feel Overwhelmed and Spiritually Drained

Enemy Lie: “I don’t have the energy for this right now.”

One of the first ways the enemy attacks is through spiritual, mental, and physical exhaustion. You suddenly feel overwhelmed by the weight of everything on your plate. You wake up feeling drained, unmotivated, or disconnected from God.

And the dangerous part? This exhaustion convinces you to press pause on your calling. You tell yourself, “I’ll get back to it when I feel stronger”. But that time never seems to arrive.

God’s Truth:The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.” (Psalm 28:7)

How to Fight Back:

Protect your time with God - The first thing the enemy will try to steal is your prayer life. Determine to guard it fiercely.

Rest in His presence - You don’t need more striving, you need more time being refilled and re-fuelled by Him.

Rebuke the lie that weariness or exhaustion mean you should pause - Keep taking small, faith-fueled steps forward.

2. You Keep Facing Financial Resistance

Enemy Lie: ”Maybe this isn’t meant for me because I don’t have the resources.”

Kingdom assignments require Kingdom resources. When God calls you to build something, He also assigns provision for that vision. When things are looking challenging in the finance department, the enemy will try to convince you that lack means you should quit.

How many times have you stepped forward in obedience only to suddenly experience unexpected expenses, financial setbacks, or delays in the resources you need? It’s not a coincidence - it’s spiritual warfare.

God’s Truth: “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

How to Fight Back:

Stop agreeing with lack - Speak abundance over your finances and your calling.

Ask God for strategy - The provision is already assigned. You need to ask, “Lord, how do I access it?”

Sow in faith - Many times, the key to financial breakthrough is stepping out in obedience and trusting God to provide.

3. You Battle Constant Doubt & Impostor Syndrome

Enemy Lie: “Who do you think you are to do this?”

If the enemy can’t stop you with lack or exhaustion, he’ll attack your confidence.

He whispers lies like:

“You’re not ready for this.” “Other people are more qualified.” “What if you fail?”

But remember, God doesn’t call the qualified - He qualifies the called. If He gave you this assignment, you can be assured He’ll equip you to carry it out!

God’sTruth: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit”, says the Lord Almighty.’ (Zechariah 4:6)

How to Fight Back:

Take action before you feel ready - Confidence comes from movement, not waiting.

Declare what God says about you daily - The enemy wants you to speak doubt. Instead, choose to speak life.

Remember who your source is - You’re not doing this alone; you’re partnering with God. When you realise that all of heaven is on your side, everything changes!

4. You Experience Constant Distractions & Delays

Enemy Lie: ”I’ll start when things settle down.”

Another major way the enemy attacks? By making sure there’s always something ‘more urgent’ in the way. This is one of his tactics that’s not always so obvious, but be assured - it’s one of his favourite.

Right when you commit to your calling, suddenly:

  • Unexpected family issues arise.

  • You feel overwhelmed with other responsibilities.

  • You lose motivation and get distracted.

The enemy wants you to keep pushing your calling aside, convincing yourself that now ‘isn’t the right time’. The truth is, if you wait for what looks like the ‘perfect time’, you’ll never start.

God’s Truth: “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

How to Fight Back:

Recognise distractions for what they are - There’s great wisdom in being able to discern the difference between what’s urgent and what’s important. Ask yourself, “Is this truly urgent, or is it pulling me away from my God-given assignment?”

Set boundaries - Block out intentional time for your calling / assignment and protect it.

Move even when it’s messy - Don’t wait for ideal circumstances - just start.

5. You Feel Alone & Disconnected from Kingdom Support

Enemy Lie: “No one understands what I’m going through.”

One of the biggest weapons the enemy uses is isolation. He wants you to believe that you’re alone in this journey - that no one supports you, and that you have to figure everything out by yourself.

But, God rarely calls anyone to build alone. The biggest breakthroughs almost always happen in community.

God’s Truth: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

How to Fight Back:

Surround yourself with Kingdom-minded people - Join a faith-fueled community, network, or mentorship.

Stop waiting - seek connection - Reach out, join a call, get into the right rooms.

Pray for divine partnerships - God has already assigned people to help you - ask Him to align your steps and bring His divine connections just when you need them.

It’s Time to Step Forward

If you’ve been experiencing any of these attacks, don’t shrink back - press forward.

Because here’s what the enemy doesn’t want you to know:

  • Your provision is already assigned.

  • Your next steps will become clear as you move.

  • Your breakthrough is waiting on the other side of your obedience.

Which of these attacks have you been experiencing? And what step will you take this week to fight back?
