I love how reading different bible translations helps to see what God is saying in new and exciting ways and from different perspectives. This morning I sat reading from The Message translation and found it beautifully painting a fresh picture in my mind of how we can do life in the Spirit. So often we complicate life; we worry about whether we're accomplishing anything of value, sometimes even comparing ourselves with others who seem to be achieving more (or less) than us. We become so easily distracted, getting caught up in the seemingly mundane daily routine and sometimes find ourselves wondering how exactly we're meant to be living that exciting God-adventure that is life!!?
I'm reminded that life doesn't need to be complicated but a simple listening to God's heart, choosing to walk in obedience to His leading, taking responsibility for becoming God's very best version of our unique and original selves as part of HIS amazing adventure!! A big responsibility...but the creator of the universe is there to lead us and empower us every step of the way!! What a privilege!! How about if we decided to live encouraging each other in this pursuit....putting aside silly comparisons and instead standing alongside, cheering each other on to a life lived well for Him? What an awesome way to do life.....together as His daughters....each becoming HIS best version of US!!
Listen to this......
"Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original. Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived. Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life." (Galatians 5:25-6:5)
